Substrates
Marashield WA-FXG is particularly suited for
coating UV or solvent-based inkjet prints on
PCV materials.
Field of use
Marashield WA-FXG was developed as a
protective coating for UV or solvent-based
inkjet prints. It can be applied either manually
or automatic, e. g. with the StarLam Liquid
Laminator 1600R.
A basic requirement is good adhesion of the
inkjet ink to the substrate.
The ink film must dry sufficiently before
Marashield WA-FXG is applied.
Please generally allow solvent-based prints to
dry for 24 h before coating.
Insufficiently dried prints may result in flow
problems if varnished with Liquid Coatings.
Since all the print substrates mentioned may be
different in printability even within an
individual type, preliminary trials are essential
to determine the suitability for the intended
use.
Characteristics
Ink Adjustment
Marashield WA-FXG should be stirred
homogeneously before printing and if
necessary during production.
Drying
The drying parameters must be determined
individually. They depend on the coating
thickness and will vary, especially if the Liquid
Coating is applied manually with roller,
sponge, mop, or spray gun. In general, the
minimum drying time is 1 h at ambient
temperature, and complete drying can be
expected after 24 h.
Sufficient drying must be ensured before the
substrate can be rolled up.
Fade resistance
Marashield WA-FXG is suitable for outdoor
exposure of up to 3 years, referred to the
middle European climate. The fade resistance
of the finished product, however, also depends
on the digital printing ink and the substrate
used.
Resistance
Marashield WA-FXG is alkali resistant and
furthermore resistant against acids, alcohol
(40%), and gasoline.
The chemical and mechanical resistance
increases with the thickness of the applied
layer.

Cleaning
Marashield WA-FXG can be cleaned with
water. Do not empty large amounts into
drains. Left-over varnish should be left to dry
in the container before disposal in domestic
waste.
